AuctionDrop

I just ran into an entry by Brad Feld on AuctionDrop. I hadn't heard of this company, but there's a computer store in Denver that's been advertising the same service for years: basically, you take your stuff to them and they sell it for you on eBay, taking a cut of the take. It seems like a business with a very low barrier to entry, but having UPS as a partner makes their position much better. Basically, it's a consignment store that sells on eBay. What's even more amazing than a consignment store getting VC funding and going national is that this is an excellent example of how successfull eBay is; there's a whole industry starting around eBay, both with eBay's encouragement (AuctionDrop), and without, like AuctionSentry, which eBay would probably like to kill off if they could.
